April 16th

Still getting my eye in, both imaging and processing. Generally poor seeing with cloud moving across - also very chilly (even in the warm room!) I have misplaced my aperture mask moving between obsys, so the resultant CaK image is 'soft'. CaK : WIlliam Optics 102 f6.9, Lunt CaK module BF1200, Altair...

Thanks All, I'm surprised they processed as well as they did! Especially the Ha prom, though the CaK's a gem.

Still unsure about faux colour, seems the lose some detail.

Certainly looks good enough. There's contrast.

So that's a doublestack, quark and lunt - is it easy to focus?

Chuckles. Mark's on the fence - but thanks.

Aye, the astronomytools site gives a similar tool for sampling. I was just casing the preferences on way or another for how to slow the scope down from the more experienced guys and gals.

Somehow, and perhaps somewhat unfortunately, the "correct" red for Ha buries the detail.

Relating to this, which is better (solar imaging that big bright thing that occasionally appears) masking the objective, or adding macro. The latter, of course, adds at least another bit of glass and dust.

There's nothing wrong with your set up. You're now on the slippery slope, wallet warning.... Full discs are easily obtained (!), by creating mosaics. Sharpcap has a useful mosaic tool for both the moon and the sun - it took me 18 frames on my setup ( mind it didn't stitch properly, but others have s...

I would suggest 2 barlows and a diagonal are your culprits- you may need to examine each to see if the light path is true for each se...

Nice FD and animations, Jan. Not sure what kit you’re using, but it is critical that all elements along the light train are optimally aligned and perpendicular to the optical axis. Any gravity induced droop will cause the image to be partly off band. This applies both to the etalons and blocking fi...
