I think I understand photon noise and read noise much better now.
I suppose I will have to choose how much gain to add to balance the increase in photon noise (..i.e. GAIN) vs signal against the background.

Hi,
I think I have got tuning of my Quark chromosphere eyepiece for disc details - usually at +2 setting on the quark dial.
I was wondering about imaging only the PROMs.
Is the setting different for this - dial setting is turned to what setting exactly ?
