Gamma not working on camera

So I have a new to me used camera. FLIR Pointgrey grasshopper3 12.3MP GS3-U3-123S6M-C. 3.45um pixels Using FireCap the gamma control does not seem to have any effect. I have the software installed for Point Grey, and otherwise everything seems to work. Using my ZWO Camera in FireCap, gamma works fine.

Re: Sol from the 22nd of January 2021.

Eric. I’m very impressed with your work. Very nice. Both the Solar Max 90 and the Daystar images are remarkable.
I might have asked before, are the prominences on the Calcium images from separate imaging? From Ha?

Re: Readily Available Long Focal Length Refractors

Ishtar makes a 6” f/10 objective optimized for Ha that runs about $1200. They also make a regular 6” f/10 for less. Their lens cells look nice. One down side of some of the cheaper telescopes are lens cells that can not be collimated. I would imagine this would be important for a long focus refracto...

Re: Source for LongerT-2 Extension?

Thanks all. I will put the telecentric in and use the cardboard tube to find focus. The need for a longer tube ( I can use more than one if needed) was a result of confusion about where the 4x telecentric should sit relative to the original focus. I had read original focus should be 93mm from the fr...

Re: Sony IMX253 mono cameras

Just wish I were more of a computer geek... The hardware is easy, but I also need to update the BIOS and ghost the hard drive, none of which ever goes smoothly for me. May have it done professionally ;-) Bob, I was in a very similar situation recently. Older Dell laptop, although mine does have a U...

Yes. A t-2 extension that is 80 to 100mm.
About 45 mm is the longest I’ve found

Re: Solar image size affected by focal extenders/reducers

Still thinking about this. So I will be using a 4x Telecentric on my 102mm f/8.1 scope, and then a 18mm aperture solar filter. If I were to add a .4x telecompressor (https://alpineastro.com/products/solarspectrum-research-grade-0-4x-telecompressor-2?_pos=3&_sid=25262ee3b&_ss=r) I then have a 7mm ima...

Very well done. The white light images are some of the better ones I’ve seen. Do you feel like your Mak is affected by tube currents? Have you done anything to mitigate them?

Wow. You have some fantastic detail captured. Do you image from the city there in DF? ( I lived in Polanco a long time ago) It looks like you must get some good seeing.

Re: Solar image size affected by focal extenders/reducers

Y’all are so much help. Thanks for your time. I’m not trying to get a full disk image. This is for high resolution close ups. I will also want to use the set-up with a 150mm f/12 Mak casa with a ERF. I was just unsure as to whether using a focal extender, then an aperture restriction (18mm through t...

Re: Solar image size affected by focal extenders/reducers

My 826mm focal length scope with a 4x converter gives me an effective focal length of 3304. If I decide this by 110 I get a 30mm diameter of the sun. Right?
Then. My filter has a clear aperture of 18 mm giving me a little over 1/2 the suns diameter.
So then what happens when I add a focal reducer ?

Solar image size affected by focal extenders/reducers

I’m baffled. Can someone explain how the use of focal extenders and reducers will affect the size of the image of the sun in my image train? I am looking at using a Solar Spectrum 18mm clear aperture filter on my 102mm f/8.1 refractor. I’ve been recommended to use 4x telecentric first and then I’m a...

Re: Deciding which capture frames to keep

Thanks Alexandra. I was won wondering if the SSM can be used to quantify the quality of my frames such that I would have an idea of what the 25% or 50% bars on my quality graph meant.

Deciding which capture frames to keep

When using Autostakkert, I’m unsure of how to decide how many or what percentage of frames to keep. It appears that the quality graph shows relative quality and not quantitative based on some standard I’m wondering how decisions are made. Also. How many frames are “enough” or even typical? Say I’ve ...

Processed images cannot be resized

Hi all. Sorry to ask so many questions, but I’m very new at all this. As of this afternoon my computer will not let me resize any of the images processed after IMPPG. I’ve tried two different image converter programs and neither of them will even recognize the images. When I right click on the image...

Re: Altair Hypercam 183M Mono CMOS Camera with ROI

I just recently purchased an ASI183 mono. I’ve only had a handful of sessions with it, but I’ve seen no banding. I’ve recorded flats, but they are not needed to subtract banding. I’m capturing with Firecapture.
