Re: Advice on an imaging setup for the Solar Eclipse 2017

Any Birders out there?
A piece of Baader solar film and a little time gets you a great solar scope.
Mine is a Pentax 80mm, f12 scope with Sony RX100-II camera attached with a Digiadapter.

Camranger

Reading through the great advice in the posts in the link: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=20967 elsewhere on this forum makes me wonder if anyone is planning on having a Camranger or similar device in their kit for use next August?

Re: Ready, Set, Go!

I think the key to success is to get as much practice imaging now with eclipse setups, so that when it is eclipse day it is second nature and attention can go to the eclipse itself rather than dealing with the equipment side of things. Absolutely! Another challenge is finding a good observing locat...

Stepping out of the shadows for a moment to compliment this thread! There is a light at the end of the my tunnel (telescope!) - my observatory will be functional again in a couple months after more than a years hiatus. Sure would also like to see such an in-depth thread covering the latest method of...

Re: Terrible Service by Popular Telescope Sales Co.

The really bad part is I really wanted the equipment.

I'm a little gun-shy about ordering from another supplier, maybe the problem is with the manufacturer.

Terrible Service by Popular Telescope Sales Co.

Maybe someone else has had a problem with an optitcs related order like this: Ordered a $1200 item and received the wrong one. Sent a letter saying that and was told to keep that wrong part until they could supply the correct one. Now 6 months and 20 letters later my credit card company has given my...

Picked up keys yesterday.

So glad to pick up the keys for my new observing site. It is an artists studio with incredible north light (one wall is total glass) on the top floor of our building; however, is used very little these days by only a couple of my neighbors. There is plenty of storage and a great balcony more than tw...
