Re: X1.1 flare, post-flare loops and prominences - it's all happening

Thanks all. Yes, I was thinking the loops overlapping the filament looked a bit like a ribcage. Don’t know how the filament managed to hang in there during the flaring but stay it did.

X1.1 flare, post-flare loops and prominences - it's all happening

Just happened to be doing some imaging after a long time and captured the twin flaring active regions, as well as an unrelated loop and large prominence on the limb. The seeing was as bad as I have ever had it while still bothering to image, except for a two-minute period, when for some reason it be...

Despite some pretty hot weather here in Perth, the seeing was surprisingly good this morning so I took the opportunity to grab a few shots. Some long filaments snaking around too. Post-flare loops 13 May

I hadn't realised there had been an eruptive prominence when I started imaging but noticed some post-flare loops in the full disk image (these can be seen a bit better at full size). This was of course the point when the clouds rolled in with intermittent rain showers, so there were only a couple of...

Re: Double-stack comparisons LS60MT and LS152

Thanks for the comments. The exposure time for the DS152 was 11.5 msec, so no issues there (same 3.5x barlow and single-stack). The sweet spot on the LS152 is a bit off-centre and I had wondered whether that might be an issue for collimation of the whole system with the DS in place. The view in the ...

Double-stack comparisons LS60MT and LS152

Finally received my Grasshopper 3 camera back from repair and had a sunny morning, so thought I would experiment with a new LS60MT with 60mm double-stack and my troublesome double-stack module for my LS152. I used the Grasshopper 3 for the LS152 and an ASI178MM for the LS60 (both using a Beloptik UV...
