Re: Tailor made glass optical slits

Yes, my slit is using chromium coating.
I still don't have time to test it because I just had some time to capture the sunspots 2396

Re: 20150808 Sunspot 2396

I think seeing is the key factor to capture good images.
Good luck to all of you!

Re: Tailor made glass optical slits

Glass doesn't dissipate heat very well as metal does, I was expecting the reflectivity be higher to reflect more solar heat away. For example, 95% reflectivity means only 5% of energy / heat is absorbed by the coating. Now the reflectivity is not very high, that means the glass being exposed to the ...

Re: Tailor made glass optical slits

Light pass through the coating is very little, I only could see very dim image of the light bulb. So I guess 3X% of light is absorbed by the coating. I will do some stress test later when I have time and the weather goes fine. BTW, the manufacturer told me that such coating was designed to withstand...

Re: Tailor made glass optical slits

Here is a reflectivity comparison to another glass slit that I have. http://adamslab.co.uk/Students%20Lab/Physics%20-%20Light%20and%20Optics?product_id=816 I took some pictures before and after reflection. The reflectivity of both slits are lower than my expectation, and the China made one is not a ...

Tailor made glass optical slits

I recently have tailor made several glass optical slits from mainland China.
The slits quality seems to be better than what I originally expected.
But the reflectivity is only about 62% which is lower than my expectation.

Can you post the raw images, so I can help you to de-band them? :D

Re: SHG from july 14th

Hi Vincent, I think you must have at least rotated or skewed the images from the raw, haven't you?

Re: SHG from july 14th

It seems the images are not raw which the bandings are not vertical. That will dramatically increase the difficulty of removing them.

Re: SHG Images - July 7

Peter, I notice that most of the images have dim left and right side and bright top and bottom.
Do you know what causes it?

I've tried to reduce such effect.

Re: its it safe to say a SHG is born?

Congratulations!

You may use "skew" and "resize" (1 direction only) functions to make the solar disk round.

The upper part of the sun is a bit off band, it seems not from the smiling effect if the original video is in horizontal.

Thank you DSobserver for using my program!

Dear highfnum, does the pattern show in the raw avi?
If not, can you send me the video to let me try it?
