Solar Images 2016-08-30
Have spent a few days further equipment testing (the Quark not always easy to master) but today some lovely sunshine and some solar activity. Spent a few hours taking images and another 2 hours of image processing time. Still not sure if I found the correct tuning for the Quark) These are some of th...

Re: Strange issue with Quark T Thread adaptor
Hi Mark,
nothing blocking it (at least nothing that I can see). Just a little bit smaller. The EP holder fits very smooth.

Re: Some proms on 23-08-2016
Thank you Alexandra. Tuning was wat I was trying to figure out but changing turbulence and focus shift (need a motorized focusser on that scope so that I can focus from my PC inside ...) If I decipher my notes correctly Quark setting for that one was 0.

Paul

just for the record, this was the best i could do today of AR2579 with the 80mm+quark. Lots of postprocessing also to remove newton rings.

Some proms on 23-08-2016
Hello, a very hot day today. Spend many hours catching videos. Trying to figure out the best setting of the quark. Due to very unstable seeing, a shifting in focus (reshot a few videos) no real valuable comparison could be made. Alse tried a few proms, and could produce 1 reasonable image. 80mm F/6 ...

Strange issue with Quark T Thread adaptor
Hello, together with my Quark, I ordered a Quark T-Thread adaptor. When I wanted to use it a few days ago, it did not fit as it should. Unscrewed the eyepiece holder then putting on the T-thread adpaptor I could screw it 1/4 to 1/2 turn, and then it is completely stuck. On another forum i found the ...

Re: New Camera QHY5 178
2.4 µm is indeed small for longer focal lengths. I have the ZWO 178 (same chip as th QHY) and if i use that for solar i use 2x binning which brings appropriate sampling at around f/15. (Actually bought that camera for primary focus work at f/10 with my C8) I used the camera for Hα and the only probl...

Re: Large Proms - 18-08-2016
Thanks Alexandra. I was not happy with stacking results form AS2 on the proms, so i used AVIStack to reprocess the files. Rim and proms came out much better. It is a "litte" bit slower than AS2 (does not use multicore) but fully automated process. Maybe next time I will try Registax (but find that c...

Large Proms - 18-08-2016
Hello,
Was just looking yesterday with bad seeing, but after 16:00h seeing started to get better. Did a quick session with the Daystar Quark + Focal reducer and an ASI-120MM camera. Large prom and AR2574.
Still working on processing skills.
Rgrds,
Paul

Solar activity 17-08
Hi, lots of activity today very well visible. I could only start imaging at noon, seeing degrading during the session. Of al the videocaptures made, only 1 was reasonable. 2016-08-17-1028_3.jpg Image taken with 80mm refractor, Quark, focal reducer en ASI178MM (2 x binning, better match for f/13) Pro...

Re: First Posts - Today's Sun
Thanks all for the nice welcome. Next days will be needed for further testing Quark settings (not really played with tuning yet) and also some changes to my technical setup. (Making some changes to the computer to telescope mount, limiting the bunch of cables running from my house to the telescope) ...
