Re: Detailed Images of ARs 2598 & 2599 in H-Alpha (16 images)
Thank you so much everyone. I appreciate the encouraging comments.
Alexandra, penumbral details in fact are how I judge the levels of sharpness and resolution of an image. They are also a good reflection of seeing conditions.

Detailed Images of ARs 2598 & 2599 in H-Alpha (16 images)
These images were taken on the 7th of October, except for the last one which was acquired on the 6th (worth scrolling down for). The seeing on the 7th was highly variable, whereas on the 6th it was excellent. These are stitched mosaics and single framed shots. The variable seeing prevented me from d...

Re: Double stack or refurbish my Daystar Quantum?
Hi: I am afraid that I don't have the same level of mechanical skills as some of the people on this forum. So how exactly do I doublestack on the Quantum? I have an old PST (with the glass and etalon a bit rusted) that can be used. Do I extract the etalon from the unit? Are there threads on the etal...

Double stack or refurbish my Daystar Quantum?
Hi Everyone: I have a 0.4A Quantum PE and I was thinking of refurbishing to get it upgraded to a 0.3A. I was a little concerned that seeing might be an even more critical factor when imaging with a 0.3A filter. Double stacking would give me the option of being able to go back to the original wavelen...
