Re: Late solar eclipse photos
I used AS!3 to stack the same exposure frames and used Photoshop to combine different exposure stacked frames with layers. Oregon is too large, days go too fast, we never had enough time to watch everything there in detail... BTW, forgot to mention about the videos we took during the eclipse: C3: ht...

I guess I have to crop the center part for another animation because the wide field doesn't look very impressive.

Re: ROT2 command of IRIS
Hi Merrill55, I am sorry that the SLiM has some problem to process the avi files because it is using an external library to decode the avi format. If you use the mono 8bit or 16bit SER file format to capture the video, it should be able to support without problem (I hope) I was too lazy to implement...

I only could see proms above the limb, but couldn't see special features on the disk.
I think it was because they need ultra narrow bandwidth.

I have some old codes for 16bit tiff saving, so I copied that in the program.

Hi everyone, I have updated the program and should be able to read 8/16bit SER gray scale videos.
I would be great if anyone can help test it.
Please remember do virus check before running it.

Re: quick question
My first question raised
"1. If the light source is bright enough, why should we consider high efficiency?"
because of the topic question:
"does anyone use prisms instead of gratings for SHG?"

Two questions:
1. If the light source is bright enough, why should we consider high efficiency?
2. Does prism absorb some parts of the spectrum?

It should work because it does NOT required advanced functions of PS.

The bands are not perfectly horizontal, so it cannot be removed by normal processing.

The program I wrote was intended to merge spectral lines only, no deband functions.

Re: Tailor made glass optical slits
Regular slits can easily be dusty and hard to be cleaned, for me. If the blades touch each other, it also can be damaged. Both can cause serious banding problem to the SHG images. That's why I would like to try glass slit instead. For the reflectivity, I can only test visible light based on my camer...
