Re: Solar granulation and Ha 15th July
The WL shots came out very clean Stu, I must try my Ha 7nm with the SCT now ;-) , 60 seconds is a long time for a capture though, won't you end up with a lot of frames that have movement thus reducing the amount of best 'the same detail' frames to stack Stu ? just a thought. I have found that you do...

15-07-2018 AR2713 returning, managed to grab this little gem the other day.
The best seeing I have had period & the small details captured attest to this I feel.
My usual 152mm rig did the deed.
Fingers crossed for more regions like this

Fantastic results you are getting Alexandra, hit & miss with the seeing as usual but what you are producing gets my vote.
I suppose the file your having trouble with is too big to send to me ?
I use AS!3 for all my images & haven't had much trouble stacking.

Hi Ewan, FC works for me, as does Genika. But Genika misses some features. If I want to make an animation I set the fps at about 40 fps. Otherwise the SSD explodes in a short time. As far as I know I can't control the fps in Genika. The PGR IMX174 has a 10/12 bit ADC. So it seems that you can't tak...

Firstly well done Christopher on your 1st FD capture. I have a PG IMX174 but don't 'get on' with FC so I use Genika Astro which is very straightforward. I think my USB3 ports has SS next to the port so you know which is which, worth a look. From what I have read SER files are preferable over AVI as ...

I can't help with much sorry Alexandra but I thought the 8Bit-16Bit button etc auto detects the input file & adjusts accordingly. I am sure if you try to load an 8Bit file & select 16Bit the image goes to pot, havn't used it in a while though same as most. Just trying it on my 'Heart & S...

I think you'll find a better image with the refractor, despite the theoretical improvement from additional aperture for the SCT (or is that not the question?) Please let us know how it turns out If you take a look at Christian Viladrich's SCT images Bruce I think you will be quite surprised as to t...

Yes as soon as you mentioned the D-ERF size I realised the difference would be even greater :D So you have no problems using a native Quark giving F42 or there abouts then ? good news for me then. You need to measure the free aperture of the ERF (it will be less than 135mm as some of it is held in the cell wall) to get the right numbers. As you said once before Mark it was indeed 125mm. The main thing I was trying to find out was how much difference there is using a 152mm or the C8 @ 203mm, ...

Bart can't you use Genika Astro instead ?
That software already allows RAW capture & full speed captures, 8Bit full res should give around 163Fps & 16Bit around 87Fps.
Takes a little time to get used to Genika but once you do it's great & reliable.
