An excellent collage of the review of the year and a worthy spod. Just shows how cr@p the weather was at the back end of last year here in the UK.

Talking about the whisky discussion from the previous thread, I hope everyone's astronomy advice is better than their whisky advice  I saw some Laphroaig in the supermarket on offer and bought it for the hubby to try and make him feel better (got very bad back). He tried it last night and oh...

Great views Brian, a lovely looking start to the day. Saturday dawned well, grey, pretty much as usual here, however it isn't raining (yet!). Looks like the UK will get a dose of winter next week. New headlines should be full of roads etc closed because single snow flakes were sighted. We don't cope...

You would end up with a massive focal length (6-7m?) with a regular quark. A quark combo would reduce this, but, remember quarks are not necessarily known for their evenly illuminated fields either. I think either would be a bit of a gamble trying personally. I think the key to sorting this out is t...

I generally find I get pointillism like this (with my full disks for example) when I sharpen at too large a sigma value (kernel size / radius). Dropping this down and upping the iterations to me generally offers an improvement. Given the image was taken on the day when the sun is at it's lowest in t...

I don't know which one you are drinking, but the glenlivet 12 year old is no longer made, if you can still get it out there is a good idea to buy up and keep for a bit of 'investment whisky'.
