Re: From 50 to 60 DS?

Agreed ... 50/50 , 60/50 , 60/60 there's little actual gain in visible resolution.

You've got to up the aperture big style to see anything really different.

but then as I keep saying is upping the ap a real benefit/improvement at all ?

Re: From 50 to 60 DS?

Hello Bob Yes everything is subjective to the individual ... having replaced the rusty ITF on my BF5 with this maierphotonics.com/656bandpassfilter.aspx I note the difference in brightness is astonishing !! Re: From 50 to 60 DS?

Imho I reckon opting for a 60/60 over a 60/50 would achieve about a 5 to 10% gain in reality regardless of the maths ... if requiring greater mags then try a Quark (hard work but the mags are of the scale) however that's not necessarily any advantage at all upon viewing our glorious luminary. If ima...

Re: Quark visual image too dim, please help

Slightly of topic ... again I say that I find Quarks to be hard work visually ! They are not "nearly" as easy to use as normal HA scope configurations ... the vignetting is terrible , you have to have your eye exactly in the right position to see things regardless of EP ... they do require...

Re: Quark visual image too dim, please help

I use my Quark visually in 66 to 150mm scopes with a selection of 25 to 40mm EPs
and have to report that I find the image brightness to be normal to bright
compared to other HA filters I have experience with ... so if dull I would suggest
there may be an issue !

Personally ... I'll leave the imaging & gizmos to the experts ... And yes imho

"visually" very little has changed in the last 10 yrs...sure you can zoom in on features

with a quark/150 (seeing permitted) but still "nothing" beats a front mounted DS

view.

Hi Folks

Is the adaptor in the foreground the one that's best suited for fitment
of the ND3 ... and then perhaps the solar con could be installed
to the nose piece ... this would be for visual use ... or what would be
your recommendation.
