June 26 - AR12835, proms and discs
Very bad seeing today here due to high currents flowing on the south border of a UK depression and the north border of an African anticyclone. But the sunny day and the presence of the new 12835 active region strongly invited to look at the Sun. I tried to image the new AR in CaK but the result was ...

AR12833 and a long filament
The region around 12833 countinues to be very interesting. The spot is several days old but still persists and in H alpha is really spectacular with that filamentary penumbra that makes it similar to a sea anemone. That long filament to the east of it is a nice addition to the picture. Thanks for lo...

AR12833 in H-alpha
This spot is still very prominent but doesn't seem to be evolving beyond the present stage. It's a nice view in white light because of the well developed penumbra and in H-alpha too as it is surrounded by several filaments. Below is an image I took with my usual setup, since I was in a hurry I compl...

Re: Answer by LUNT re: Hazy area on front internal lens of 130MT
Be very careful in dismantling that kind of objective. Lenses in triplets are usually held on the optical axis by means of radial screws on the the cell that push on the lens edges, check if this is the case by removing the dew shield. If yes, you will need to loose these screws before to remove the...

I usually apply the gamma in post-processing, use little of it in H-alpha as it helps while focusing. I think it's only a matter of personal preferences.

AR 12827-12829 - Halpha
An inviting day for solar imaging with quite still air. AR12827 still looks interesting but seems now decayed compared to few days ago. In white light is disappointing but in H-alpha is a different object. Same for AR12829.

This is a well known problem of some (not all) SW ED refractors, a step inside the mobile tube that prevents inserting long 2" accessories. There is no solution other than replacing the focuser as I made with my own 100ED. I suggest a Baader Steeltrack focuser, this will solve the problem with ...
