An enjoyable Sun, finally

It seems that the dark ages of the solar minimum are really approaching the end. This morning I was very happy to see a spot with a well developed penumbra with its Wilson-effect appearance plus some trailing pores in a large facular area. Seeing is bad (yesterday's weather was rainy and stormy) but...

It could be the mirror inside the diagonal which introduce some tilting. Alfred, to use your PM before the BF you need an adapter like this one . Just screw the T2 adapter of the PM in the rear thread of the T/2" adapter then insert the BF tube in the 2" holder. At the distance of the came...

Since yesterday there are several fine proms to be observed in H-alpha and/or imaged in Ca-K 2020-06-02-0808-RB-CaK-proms.jpg the one on the NW limb is bright and large enough to offer interesting details in calcium light 2020-06-01-0740-RB-CaK-prom.jpg while the NE active region lost its yesterday'...

My best hours for imaging is from sunrise to 10:00 am in spring and autumn, summer and winter are worst seasons for solar.

Hi Alexandra
the H alpha images contain many fine details, if you don't mind to send me the raw I'd like to give it a try.

In CaK images some details tend to form short streaks, may be that something in the imagin train was tilted.

Hello John, I used of the original BF assembly of my Lunt module. The Barlow is a Takahashi extender, an air-spaced doublet with only 20 mm of free aperture. Given the dramatic improvement I had I am now planning to purchase a larger focal extender, possibly of a telecentric type.
