DayStar Quark - refractor

Post by renims »

I bought DayStar Quark. I have a telescope and 1000mm F6,7 focal length is too large. What should be the focal length?
image too large, lack of focus image

Hi renims

maybe a focal reducer is helping, Your are currently working with 4,2 m that is heavy

Hi Renims

I would go with a 0,6 to 0,5 reducer 1 1/4 "

Hi Renims

yes, just try it. You may have to search for the right distance from the nose to get the optimum

Hi there. what i was meaning was the quark operates at such long focal lengths the seeing conditions only allow it to work to its full potential quite infrequently.

So I want a reduction of 0.5. Then about 2 meters

It will be good ?

Because the telescop focal length of 1000mm is too much? Plus Quark is 4300mm. Too much is not it?

Renims wants to say that he is looking for best solution for his Quark filter. To have good focal lenght and still good aperture for imaging.

In my opinion 102/714mm or 90/630mm are good compromise .

Hi Pawel

I totally agree. Do not exceed 700 mm . 714 / 630 is o.k.

Renims,

I just got the Quark (Chromosphere) and this is my first Ha solar viewing device. I just wanted to show what first light images would look like running with the recommended scope parameters. I was using a 80mm F7.5 at 600mm . The net figures are F32.25 at 2580mm.

The pictures (single frame captures) attached are poor, I'm new to Ha. Camera is a QHY5L-II mono with a .5x Antares FR

Walter and Joe,

Thank you for your comments and encouragement. But I'm really questioning the purchase of the Quark.
