I thought it would be a good idea to have a reference thread where people share what they have found to be the highest useful magnification for their various solar telescopes.
I have a Ha PST and I find a 8mm eyepiece (50x magnification) to be the highest useful magnification.
After 50x I find the picture to become too dim and contrast declines.

Re: Highest Useful Magnification
On my Lunt 60T/60DS scope I use a Baader zoom, 8-24mm(62.5-21x mag) on most, days within that range and a Televue 3-6mm zoom(166-83x mag) on the best of days, the 5 and 6 mm settings being the most used in ideal conditions, and the 3 a 4mm rarely used. For me the most practical used magnification range for this scope on good days would have to be 31x-62.5x(16-8mm eyepieces).I find that after about 100x mag (5mm)the image gets too dark, especially in DS mode.

Re: Highest Useful Magnification
On my DS LS60, I normally start off with my Lunt 7.2 - 21.5mm Zoom, providing from 22x to 67x.
For a more detailed view I use a 7mm Nagler (68x), and on those rare thermally stable mornings here I use a 4.8mm Nagler (102x)
If I had only one eyepiece for visual use it would be the Lunt Zoom. I've never tried the Baader Zoom, but I'm sure the quality is there.
