Lunt questions

Post by Olivier »

Hello

My first post here :)

Does someone know when the Lunt 50mm becomes available (in Europe)?

A question on pressure tuner: is this a significant advantage for visual observing, or is it more a "nice to have" thing (for visual observing only)

And which blocking filter would you recommend for visual work?

Thanks!

Olivier

Hi Olivier, welcome to the site. I'm a visual observer and prefer the PT unit over the tilt tune as disk and prom detail is visible at the same time, and I would go with as large a blocking filter as possible(I think the LS50 T comes with either a B400 or a B600).

Hi Olivier

welcome to that wonderful site. Have fun in the sun.

As for the LUT 50, just drop an email at Markus Ludes, LUNT Europe, he should be able to give an answer.

Having used both, a tilt and a PT System. I would always go with the PT Version. It is a real gain. I guess a B600 is the smallest you should choose. A B1200 would be great.

Only stardust in the wind, some fine and some less fine scopes, filters and adapters as well. Switzerland 47 N, 9 E, in the heart of EUROPE :)

Welcome to the site, Olivier,
I have a PT 60mm with a B1200 filter that I use visually. A friend has the tilt-tuned 60mm model with the same filter. I definitely prefer the PT model, since I'm able to tune in both proms & disk features much better.
Either way. I'm sure you will enjoy the dynamics of solar observing when you obtain your 50mm Lunt, but go for the largest filter you can afford.
