Currently I am using a Single Stack PST40 from Mexico Meade. It has given me very good views and some decent images using a ZWO ASI 120mm Monochrome camera.
I also have a Explorer Scientific 80mm f/6 Air-Spaced Triplet ED Apochromatic Refractor that I used to use for wild field imaging at night. A Lunt 80mm is $3200. So I know I can't compare to that but I was wondering what filter etc could I add to my little ED80 to give me better images than I can get with my PST40.
I have seen posts about the Quark. Not sure if that would be a good option or something else. I would like HA not white light. Proms would be good to photograph also. My budget is around $1000 USD. Is it even worth doing or just save for a couple years and get the Lunt 80 single stack?

ED80 APO Triplet Can I use it for HA imaging?
Re: ED80 APO Triplet Can I use it for HA imaging?
I would rather not Mod my PST I would like to keep that as a grab and go visual. The Triplet is already paid for and not used for night so I just thought it might be a option instead of buying a whole new scope.

Hi Donny
I feel with you, but theres seems to be no way around a LUNT 80 or 100

I think the only thing within your budget range is probably the Quark. I would check through the various Quark posts in the forum for its performance in various scope configurations.

Donny, for what it's worth........
Quark performance with a range of scopes: Quark plus Lunt 60mm (achromat) and x0.5 focal reducer - 12 pane mosaic: Quark plus Equinox 80mm (ED refractor):
Quark plus Equinox 120mm (ED refractor): Your f6 80mm should work pretty well with a Quark. Hope the images above give you something to compare with your current pst images and images taken with Lunt 60/80 scopes by others in the forum.

Yes, a quark is the way forward. I use one with a 70mm f6 - lots of pics taken with it on my website here http://brierleyhillsolar.blogspot.co.uk/ if you want to take a look and see what you can get...

Re: ED80 APO Triplet Can I use it for HA imaging?
I guess it is a TAL 100RS - which is 100mm f10 refractor of Russian origin.
I obviously had a spelling deficit attack when I produced the table
I use one for CaK imaging in good conditions and I have recently tried it with the Quark - not ideal but it does work.
Updated table:
