Loved the diamond ring video.
It went from one quarter to four karats in thirty seconds. I was wanting to becoming a jeweler a long time ago.

Hi Alexandra,
Fantastic work Alexandra! Wonderful collection and imagination.
I would have thought you could have entered and won the annual astronomer of the year competition with those, incredible !!
I was thinking of going to the eclipse in USA, maybe Niagara Falls, 2024, would need to start preparing for it now....!!!

Thanks Magnus, I did enter these for APOTY but wasn't even shortlisted
I guess even an eclipse image has to be a good one
I too would love to go to the 2024 eclipse in the USA too but the weather will be quite hit and miss. Also depends on whether we are allowed to travel to the USA by then

Dear Alexandra,
That is a shame. If I was on the panel, you would have been number 1. Best of luck for further success.
Kind regards,
Magnus.

Dear Alexandra,
I was looking at the overall winner in 2020, and it was won by a picture of an annular eclipse (ring of fire); I am sorry I did not find that inspiring at all, I thought maybe it could have been faked/photoshop, but I am sure those judges have a way of checking for that. Shame about the 10000 prize. I would love to win it someday.
I thought your work was 100x better than that annular eclipse image and you should have won instead.

Hi All,
Any one planning to go the USA for the total eclipse in ? April or is it March 2024 ??
Did any of you guys go to the eclipse in 2017 apart from Alexandra ?
Did you go on a tour or did you book your own, going to less expensive bed and breakfasts for accommodation ? I suppose there should be cheaper options in USA than in far away places like the Antarctic or Chile !

Magnus, we need to start a discussion in the main Solarchat area. We did chat about this at the last Zoom chat. I don't think anyone can settle on a good place to go yet as I think the weather could be bad all along the path. I've not settled on a good idea yet. I think Astroshot is going to go to the annular eclipse in July next year though.

Hi Alexandra,
I was wondering if I could find out how you laid out the various phases of the eclipse in a spiral?
Is that a path in photoshop?
I haven’t been able to work it out.
What mount did you use to track the sun.
Thanks.

Thanks Magnus, I just laid all the images out in a new layer in Photoshop and manually arranged them in that shape.
I took a Merlin Acuter now: Skywatcher Mount Acuter AZ Merlin mount (easy to transport).

Hi Alexandra,
Thanks so much for the Acuter Merlin. I checked with some retailers and this mount is no longer on sale, so I shall either go second hand or look for the equivalent. Probably one of the newer AZ mounts.
Really nice setup and incredible solar images Alexandra.
