animation of the prominence of April 15

Post by stef41 »

good morning, everyone,

Overcast skies today so, unless a miracle, no sun of the day ... but an animation of the "big" protuberance of April 15.
Still at the fs60 with its sm40 double stack, glasspath x1.25, BF10 and zwo178mm on staradventurer.

I used autoguiding to make this animation by connecting a st4 cable between the zwo and the staradventurer. No DEC engine on this mount, but at least on the AD side, I didn't have to do any retrofitting (and yes, in my nomadic life (in my garden) and therefore set up with the compass, of course :) ).

The machine in action:

Image

from further away, in my little corner of a confinement garden surrounded by trees (shooting window on the sun between 1:30 and 5:30 UT).

Image

animation made with 145 films of 1000 images taken every minute between 14h12 and 17h30 UT
gif at 5 fps

Image

this prominence did not go into space until the next day, so the animation is not spectacular, but we can see a little bit of the evolution of the structure inside.

Note that this is the continuation of Paul's animation (banjo) that he made between 10:32 and 14:00 HL that same day: https://player.vimeo.com/video/408055022

Between the two of us, we have the evolution of this prominence over almost a whole French day! :D

cordially,
stéphane - France

A beautiful animation, Stephane ! I really like the slow internal movement of the plasma.
