May 19 Prominence and AR

Post by p_zetner »

Hi Everyone.

Some images of the new AR and prom in H alpha and CaK. Seeing conditions were limited by transparency .. a milky layer of cirrus became thicker as the session progressed. Turbulent seeing was generally poor but there were some of those precious quieter moments available. I managed to image in H alpha with the C8 Edge scope (Aries ERF, Celestron C8 Edge, Moonlite CHL focuser, ~4.4x Telecentric, Daystar QPE 0.6A, ~0.8x FR, Point Grey USB3 Grasshopper IMX174 2.8Mpx CMOS) at two different image scales (with and without the reducer). By the time I got to Ca K, the cirrus was quite thick, spoiling detail and contrast. Still managed an image with the Stellarvue / Lunt combination (Stellarvue 115mm f7, EO 390nm40nm/ IDAS UV-IR cut, Omega CaK 0.2nm, Lunt CaK B1800 Etalon, Sys.~f40, PGR Grasshopper IMX174 2.8Mpx CMOS).
Disk plus prom shots are two-image composites. Two out of three of them use inverted disks .. easy to accomplish and a personal favourite.

Cheers.
Peter

Hi Peter,

Despite the seeing conditions, you have pulled off great shots. The HA Proms with AR and the CAK AR look fantastic!!
