Sol 2020.06.08

Post by nicosolcy »

Dust load from Sahara is still affecting local weather patterns and impacting contrast, but still, some healthy fun with Lunt LS60 SS!

Apologies for the bluish sun, but I am quite partial to this inversion style!

Thanks Dan - time to put the DS module on at some point soon, but will wait for truly dust free skies to do that. Meanwhile...

These look really good. I like the blue. No apologies needed! It gives in an artistic spin!

Excellent Ha FDs, Nick. Nice contrast and beautifully even illumination.

Thanks Stu!

Now, if only the dust subsides so that I get better contrast (crossing fingers and all)!

Hmmm. tried a few other enhancements. While over-processed, it was a teaching moment.

Leaning between original greyscale processing and this one as a basis.

I had NO idea solar imaging could be so much fun...

I am so glad you are having fun Nick, I think my favourite is the peachy flavour :bow :hamster:

Where are you from with Sahara dust?

Thanks Alexandra!

I live in Cyprus so wind currents lift the dust and shift it in a wind pattern south of Italy until it hits us. I use this site to monitor:

https://forecast.uoa.gr/en/forecast-maps/dust/europe

Check both dust concentration and dust load options. It’s something which we have to live with - more so in the last three years unfortunately. There appears to be a permanent shift in wind currents.

I like the different presentations. I am fooling around, but I am nearly there in terms of how to get what I want from my greyscale images before I colorize them :)
