16Jul20 - CAK images with C11

Post by yltansg »

I am glad to have windows of opportunity to record some videos using a C11 fitted with an ARIES D-ERF (with a 220mm mask) + Lunt B1200 CAK module + TV x2.5PM + Chroma CAK filter + ASI174.

The images could have been better if the seeing was better:

These are gorgeous Alfred :hamster: :hamster: :hamster:

Can you tell me the make and model of the 1.25" extension tube you use with the 2.5x Powermate?

Hi Alexandra,

I am using a Celestron barlow T-adapter - it was an old barlow, I removed the lens.

Alfred, really good shots all of them.
I have to start doing something with my 10" Aries ERF and the 10" f/20 Maksutov.
Best regards,

Thanks Alfred for those close-up shots and I must remember the re-use of a Barlow as the extension-tube - good idea..

Looks great Alfred. I like the processing you have done - it's not overcooked. Glad you have got it all working now.

Hi Rainer,

Thanks for your comments. I am practising with these pair of Chroma filters. I need to use a better extender to get a more stable setup. The current extender does not have a firm firm on the nose piece of the camera, resulting in the need to redo flats whenever the camera is shifted.

Dear Terry,

I have been trying with other extension tubes as well. Will share results when completed.

Dear Mark,

Glad you like the "light-touch" processing. I can definitely do better, still working on it.

Looking good there, Alfred.

Like I said before, your CaK images are getting better and better each time.

Yep, I have to keep working on it. Image quality seems to vary with length of the extender. I need to do more tinkering to get the optimum configuration.

Thanks Stuart. Yesterday's weather forecast was poor but I was very glad to get that bunch of images. Today's weather forecast was quite similar to yesterday's but I couldn't even get the C11 to hold its focus. Hope to have some windows for imaging this weekend. Wishing all great seeing too :)

Thanks Derek,

The previous set of images were mostly made with 1000 frames or 800 frames stacking. Here is one from stacking 150 frames. Looks decent for 150 fames:

Cheers.

Super images, especially like the resolution you have obtained with 150 frames.
