July 24, 2020 Spot

Post by Astrophil »

Hi All,

Just a few shots of the spot on the 24th with the 6" Mak. The first image was taken before the etalon was up to temperature (blue wing). I wanted to make sure that I captured something in case the clouds rolled in. The next images were at the usual temp.

Awesome shot of AR2767.

I agreed with you that it is a good practice to capture something first even though it may not be an ideal picture. It happened to me recently when hunting for Comet NEOWISE. My main camera wasn't ready but I saw the comet on my QHY5 guide camera. Decided to take a screen shot of the comet. That turned out to be the only image I have of NEOWISE to date. :P

Excellent work, Phil. Even the off band image looks fairly good (spot showing quite nicely).

Nice images, Phil.

I tried to take a look at NEOWISE several times this month (some late nights/early mornings) without any luck at all.
