Holiday Monday Sun 31st Aug 2020

Post by Carbon60 »

A second morning of sunshine in a row... must be dreaming...and it's a bank holiday here in England, so a great opportunity for some more solar pics.

My strategy from the get-go was to make an animation sequence in Ha of some rather nice proms showing on GONG situated on the western limb and then switch over to Ca II K for a full disk and a few closer views of the large swathe of plage.

The ionised calcium images first. All captured on a Tecnosky 125mm with a Basler acA2440-75um monochrome camera either native or with barlows.

4 pane mosaic.

Then the prom in Ha using my DS 150 mm/Lunt 35 mod with 2.5x Powermate and Basler acA1920-155um monochrome camera.

and finally the prom animation. This was captured over a 30 minute period using a cadence of 10s on and 20 off.

Thanks for looking.

A super set of images Stu! Cloud, grey and cold here today all day, we had to put the central heating on earlier.

Excellent variety of images, Stu. Covered in smoke here in Las Vegas... Nice to see someone with clear skies. :D

Fab images Stu. The "fiery" prom image and the animation are just excellent - thanks

All are great Stuart but the animation catches my eye the most. The detail in the spicule layer and the proms are superb.

Wow!! terrific images Stuart, I love the CaK but the prominence is the star, especially the animation, look at that little plasma ball it throws out!
