September 3rd - A few Ha Images - Date Corrected

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

September is starting of with some clear weather to enjoy astronomy, and I had a chance on Thursday to do a short Ha session over lunch. The amount of activity was relatively low, but there were a few small filaments and a large disturbed area in the NW that were of interest.

The first is a full disk Ha image taken through the LS80T/B1200Ha solar scope, double stacked with the LS75FHa etalon mounted on the front of the scope. This is a composite of separate limb and disk images, with the limb frame inverted. The camera is the PGR Grasshopper Express (ICX 674 chip), freshly returned from FLIR for cleaning and service.:

I tried the modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha scope with a 3x focal -extender to see if the limited chromosphere details would show more structure with more focal length. The large disturbed area in the NW quadrant is shown below in a 4 frame mosaic...could have used a bit more pressure in the tuner I think :

There were two small bright spots rotating into view on the SE limb, and I was hoping they might develop into something more:

The last image covers a few of the filaments found in the northern part of the disk:

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Good to see you back in action, Brian. Nice images. As you suggest, a little off band, but they convey what was going on back in early August.

Thanks Alexandra :bow

I was hoping they might develop into more Cycle 25 AR's, but there wasn't much sign of them yesterday.
