October 30, 2020 bombs away?

Post by Astrophil »

Hi All,
Here is an off band animation of AR2778 and AR2779 attempting to show Ellerman bombs. Seeing deteriorated rapidly over the 40 min. capture. The etalon temperature was set to 44.7 ºC resulting in a center wavelength of about 1.4 Angstroms into the blue. Truthfully, I have no idea what the best etalon temperature should be.
Also shown is an image on band.

I wanna do some more observations of Ellerman bombs. They are a true challenge visually. You " bombed away " excellently with these images and captured them superbly.

Superb animation and image. :bow

The fleeting filaments give the animation an almost organic, "pond life" appearance.

Excellent, Phil.

Lots going on there, even away from the main action within the spicule field. Those ‘mini’ explosions within the ARs themselves are mesmerising. Their apparent small size relative to the sunspots belies their true explosive power.

Very nicely done.

I think that is pretty much a first Phil :bow :bow :bow

A lot are static bright points indicating flux tube foot points but there are some particular bright flashes of Elleman bombs. Particularly at 12 o'clock on the lower left spot and also at 2 o'clock on this same group where the black material is ejected. Well done sir, a job well done!

Thank you all for the comments. One additional bit of info pertaining to the animation, 1 frame per minute recorded 10 frames per second video playback. (1 sec. = 10 min.)

Alexandra, thank you for the analysis. I think I learned something.

Phil

thanks, Phil, very interesting off band animation! Perfectly processed.
I made shots in the blue wing with SM90, but, definitely, I have to try animation too.
