The sky finally cleared just after 3 this afternoon having sat under the grey skies of an inversion for much of the day. I was out playing again rather than after serious observation and was testing my Lunt 50 etalon on the ED80 which gives a f12 setup, putting the APM 1.6x telecentric on the back and a 'naked' quark gives f19 going through the quark etalon. With this quasi double stack setup the double limb is hard to see visually and starting to disappear when imaging. Despite the first clear skies for a good couple of weeks the sun was not playing ball, and other than a few very small patches of filament the only thing of note was the proms, and these were far from spectacular! Still, just nice to get out, the sun is getting ever higher and now I have a good 4 hour window from around 11.30 to 3.30 I can observe in. Better times ahead!
