My first solar animation test

Post by Gingerfish »

Right! My first ever solar animation. I finally got enough clear sky to test out my Lunt 50 mod. I'm using an Altair 102ED f/7 refractor, with an extra internal Baader 35nm filter. I also converted my blocking filter into a straight-through one.

The only mono cam I have, is a ZWO asi120. And it Newton rings like mad! So I made my own tilt adapter out of an extra nosepiece I had lying around. That took care of the worst rings :D

Seeing wasn't great, so I only got 25 minutes. My solar processing skills are also non-existent, so be gentle :p But I think I'm now hooked on this solar stuff! :beanie:

I am a beginning imager as well. I haven't tried animations yet. It looks like you are off to a nice start by me.

You don't want to know how much time I spent on that animation...

I spend a lot of time editing too. I find it amazing on how fast some of the more experienced imagers do it. But I'll admit, I lack patience and can be a bit lazy. I want it done fast and with as less effort as possible and still get a good image.

I know the feeling. And like you, I'm a bit lazy. I just want it done :P

Well done :bow :hamster: nothing will stop you now :hamster: have you automated most of the processing? if you set Autoskakkert in batch mode to stack, walk away and have a cup of tea. Then in ImPPG, sharpen the first and save the settings, then set it going in batch mode to sharpen them all. Again you can walk away and have a cup of tea. Then, with all the sharpened images set ImPPG to align them all. Then run in GIMP or Photoshop to make your Gif. It shouldn't take more than an hour :) with lots of cups of tea :)
