October 17th Autumn Scenery

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

The clouds broke up intermittently this afternoon and I spend some time taking photos of the fall colors in the yard, the fields around the house, and many during a walk through the sugar bush and the corn field adjacent to it.

This has been a strange fall season as we have yet to have a killing frost and the trees developed much less color in their leaves compared to what I consider to be normal. The color change started late and the deciduous trees has shed leaves quickly...strong winds today accelerated the process.

The collage of pictures below show some of the scenery that I took in while touring around the neighborhood during the early afternoon when the sun made a stronger showing.

Great to see your pictures Brian :hamster: what wonderful grapes! we threw all ours away yesterday as they were rotten and only half the amount of sugar content they should be (they were to late flowering). Our trees have started to turn too, very similar to yours.

Ivan and Alexandra...

Thanks for your comments on the fall colours :bow

Alexandra, sorry to hear your grapes did not turn out. I think you said earlier you had something eating them too?

Yep, severe wasp attack and this rotted most of the bunches. It also killed the wasps too, we had hundreds of dead, passed out and totally drunk wasps ;) They all eventually killed themselves with alcohol poisoning. You should watch a drunk wasp trying to fly, then pass out.

Drunken wasps...now there's a sight

Too bad they ruined your grapes though. We are into the late Russett apples right now, and besides digging the last of the potatoes and onions in the garden my little harvest is pretty much wrapped up.
