Sunset over the Volga

Post by Ivan »

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, on these beautiful hot and cloudless days, I have no time to shoot in Ha,

Tonight we walked with my little daughter along the banks of the Volga. This picture is a little hello from us.

Hi Alexandra,
Thanks for the kind words.
There are beautiful castles on the Loire, I was there too, though a very long time ago in 97.

Hello everyone,

The sunny man embraces the sky. Do you see him?
This is a small river that flows into the Volga in the city limits.

Thank you Alexandra! This man's head is the Sun, and his hands are contrails from airplanes, his torso is beyond the horizon :)

Ivan,
I wish that was my fishing poles 🎣 set up on the riverbank. Your pictures show the beauty of the Volga and the Sunny Man too!!

James

P.S. Do you ever fish the Volga? What species of fish are caught there?

Thank you James,
I'm glad you liked it. I took a photo with fishing rods last year, but there are still a lot of fishermen, it even seems to me that there are more fishermen than fish :).

I fished only as a teenager, we caught roach, bream and pike perch and pike. Now there are few fish in the city and even outside the city, even seagulls now feed on landfills:(

Good fishing has been preserved on the reservoir or on private reservoirs or away from populated areas.

Ivan,
Roach we don’t have here and your bream I think is what we know as Tench. We don’t have those either. Our bream are Sunfish like Bluegill. Pike Perch are found here and we have two species, Sauger and Walleye. We have pike here too, Northern Pike, Muskellunge and Pickerel.

It’s a shame the Volga is overfished. It sounds like fishing there needs tighter regulations and a good stocking program.

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work!!

Precisely! a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work :) By the way, photographing and observing the Sun is somewhat similar to fishing, have you noticed? Maybe it's all about excitement?

It is high time to restore the Volga to its normal appearance, too many problems have appeared, ranging from the waterlogging of the coastline and ending with the depletion of fish resources.

In the first third of the 20th century, Huso huso was caught in the Volga, they went there to spawn and passed to Tver and the Kama River). They were numerous and sometimes reached gigantic sizes, now they are on the verge of extinction.

Oh my!! why on earth are humans so selfish and destructive. I spend half my time cursing our ancestors for killing everything, I would love to have seen all the millions of whales, now extinct birds etc but our ancestors destroyed them all. We have to stop killing everything for 'our needs' or future generations will be cursing us.

What an amazing fish, I am so sorry you can no longer see them :(

Hi Ivan,

Beautiful pictures and interesting the size of the sturgeons. Those are really huge.

Ivan,
Yes solar observing can be like fishing 🎣. Especially ice fishing where you are fishing through holes in the cloud deck! The rewards are great too and can be really exciting. One difference is you can’t eat what you catch. Or capture!! ☀️ 🐟. But our local bream are Sunfish!!

Those huge fish look to be either sturgeon or paddlefish. Both are endangered here too for the same reason. There is hope though, they are making a slow comeback in some of our northern rivers.
