After sunset

Post by Ivan »

Hello everyone,

About two hours have passed since sunset, but the Sun does not go deep below the horizon at our latitude at this time of the year.
A small gap between the clouds on the horizon looks like a glowing river. It is a pity that the smartphone camera does not convey any depth of perspective, nor scale, nor grandeur, but this is all that was at hand.

Thank you for the beautiful image and description of the scene. Where are you located, if I may ask ?

That's really lovely :hamster: sometimes I just love to sit and enjoy the after sunset moment from the window. The air seems fresher, you can hear the birds last chatter and see the bats zipping about in the last remnant glow of light. I'm with you Ivan :)

Alexandra
PS you need to fill in your location in your settings as everyone asks you that question :)

Alexandra, thanks for your comment and advice.
I also love this time, this time of rest.
Bats are great, I've only seen them twice in my life.

Really  do you not have bats where you live?

We have lots and I have a device for listening to them sing. I do species counts and keep a log. On Saturday we had 34 on the bat run. They are amazing animals.

I even specifically looked on the Internet, we have 3 types of them. In 2016, there were a lot of them and they even flew into houses. But as long as I can remember (I'm 39) I have never seen them in Yaroslavl. Maybe because they are afraid of city noise, cars, light of street lamps?
Although this does not bother moose and they regularly appear in the very center :)

Thanks for the Summer-evening scene Ivan.

Yes of course, I had the experience of being in the far-north of England on the shortest-night of the year (a while back) and quite surprised that so much light throughout the night, compared to my usual location around 350-miles south in S.E.England...

Thanks for sharing

Thanks, Terry
Continuing the theme, the photo was taken about an hour and a half before sunset.

I listened to their voices and read your blog on livejournal. This is an amazing hobby! I was surprised to learn that there are special commercial devices for listening to them, and even more surprised to learn about the Bat conservation trust. This broadened my horizons a lot, thank you!

Ivan

Have your fugitives been found?
