AR2936 - January 29th

Post by RichardJ »

What a lovely, growing active region with lots of detail.
Looking forward to see how much it evolves.

102mm Refractor, Televue 2.5x Powermate, ZWO 120MC Camera.

What brand is your 102mm Refractor? I have a Celestron 102 myself. You did well picking up the individual granules.

My scope is a skywatcher 102mm achromatic refractor.
I've replaced the original image with a less crunchy version.

The second image is an improvement. It shows nice detail without being over sharpened. The details in the spot group, AR12936 still shows well as does the granulation. You might flip the image vertically to orient it correctly though.

It is their F10 achromat or their short F5 one? Did you use any kind of narrowband filter at the eyepiece like a 540nm filter?

Nice work!

James

Hi James,

Took your suggestion on board.
My scope is the F10. I also use a polarising filter and Baader Solar Continuum Filter (540nm) with the Lunt wedge.

Richard.

I use the Altair wedge with a built in polarizer and 540nm filter with a Celestron 102 F10. Similar setup. I also use an Orion 70 F7.1 achromat with a glass full aperture filter for WL.

James.
