Mercury Transit HD 1080p video, plus Mosaic and final images

Post by rofus »

Hello everyone,

never worked so much on an astrophoto production, this one required many hours of work and even more hours of Mac full power to stack and render thousands of frames, but in the end I think the result is remarkable.

As promised, I share with the HD 1080p video of the transit (I suggest viewing it in full HD quality):

phpBB [media]

And below I attach final images (again I suggest full resolution view), best three frames and mosaic taken from all the material used for the video, to better appreciate the details a lucky morning allowed me to capture.

All details about the video at the end, this video and images happily places all my previous solar images on a step below :band

Cheers guys,

thank you to everyone of you, I really just started but thanks to your help the learning curve is being steep but very effective, I consider you all part of this effort :band

Without this forum that video would not exist and I would still be a night-only frustrated (for UK weather) astrophotographer, while now I keep saying that to be honest Solar is at least 50% of my time and pleasure in astrophotography, and definitely the most dynamic and beautiful object in the sky :bow

If you think is worth it and you have some name of magazines/websites I should send it to, let me know and I'll do it..if they allow a comment I would love to report all the help I received from this amazing community! :band2

Fabulous animation and still images. That's an awful lot of work, but really well worth the effort.

Rofus,

I'm sort of a newbie here but am really into timelapses as well. I've spent hours on mine too, but the final result (I'll put that in another post) is nowhere near as epic. Anyways, wonderful work I definitely have a lot to learn from you and everyone else here.

Chris

Hi Chris,

cheers and let me know when you'll post your result, surely some knowledge and expertise in professional video editing and direction helps as I would say final result, like in night astrophotography, is definitely a mix of different processes, and for a timelapse like that is probably half and half between actually taking the correct images but also knowing how to make a final video using tools like Premiere or Final Cut etc.

Looking forward to your timelapse! Not much time as lately here, another project running, but soon will be back with more :)
