17092017-AR2680 and western limb

Post by bart1805 »

This time I did take a flat so did not have to work very hard to remove the gradients. Unfortunately no time to compare the double stack with the singe stack.
Bresser 127 with two PST etalons etc.

Hi Merlin,
A few, but not so much doublestack H-alpha related....
Just bought a CEM60 with a tripod pier. Much easier to transport into the garden than the HEQ5 on the pillar mount.
The doublestack CaK filter is ready, telescope is ready to begin testing. Although the sun is quite low now, this weekend looks promising.
Still struggling with the 150mm f8 Skywatcher. Changed the focuser, that seems to be an improvement. Doublestack seemed to work better with the 127mm Bresser, so I am looking forward to more testing this spring.
CS! Bart.

Thanks guys and thanks Ken for reviving this thread. Which, by the way, is also a bit painful. This session was one of the few successful sessions with two stacked PST etalons. I switched to the Skywatcher 150mm and gained 2,3 cm but never had the succes as with the Bresser. Will try it again this spring and then decide to maybe go back to the Bresser. CS! Bart.

Bart,
I said back in 2009, that the PST DS was a pain in the butt to tune, so much so I gave up.....
Following your success and finding more rusty pins to stick in my eye (!!) I'm going to revisit this option.
Certainly an interesting option.....
