Hi,
Sometimes it is not good to have a very clear sky. The details in the difference of the illumination of the Sun surface are too difficult to hide

Still very nice, Rainer. I like how you captured that tall prominence at about 7 o'clock. It looks like the prominences are inverted, right ?

Re: Full disk Sun 04-01-2018
Hi Franco,
The software I use for image acquisition is Lucam Recorder and that software allows to apply in real time a color palette (can be defined by the user) and so I get the details in one single shot.
You have to imagine it like following. A normal monochrome camera captures the details of the Sun in B&W and normally the space from the limb outwards is always black. OK. The software can apply in real time while streaming images change the colors. The color Black RGB 0,0,0 can be changed to let me say RGB 127,127,127. This is done via a menu and then you save the color palette and use it while streaming as well as when saving the video.
So this means that you can even colorize the Sun in Orange color having a monochrome camera. Unfortunately it only works in 8bit and the author of the software does not update the software anymore. The software only works with Lumenera https://www.lumenera.com and The Imaging Source cameras https://www.theimagingsource.com/
I hope I explained it in a way you could understand me.
regards Rainer

Nice Image. I'd echo Alexandra's post. It still looks photogenic.

Hi,
Thanks everybody. Unfortunately only 2 more days to go, today and tomorrow, in the Observatory and then back to reality chasing the enchiladas

Re: Full disk Sun 04-01-2018
Hi Mark,
Thanks and yes but today is the last day and tomorrow back into reality :-) In November this year I will move permanently to the Observatory as I retire from my day job so you will have to look at my Sun images daily
I think I will start with Solar Outreach here in the town I will live and then perhaps extend to other places if the money allows it
regards Rainer
