January 28th in Ha

Post by MapleRidge »

Hello everyone...

Sunday morning looked promising with clear skies welcoming sunrise and an early start to the day. With a forecast of a clear morning I started to image but the clouds began to roll in soon after starting and was completed clouded over in less than 10 minutes. At least I managed to get a few full disk images out of the LS80T.

The disk was virtually blank, with only a few small tufts of filaments but there were a number of proms visible and more fainter ones that were pulled up in the camera. Below is a composite of disk and limb exposures to highlight the features...through the LS80T/B1200 solar scope that was double stacked with a LS75FHa front mount etalon:

The images below were modified to enhance the disk and limb. The first has the limb inverted, while the second has the disk inverted:

After these initial images were taken I played with the tuning to get the disk more evenly tuned but was clouded out before getting additional shots!

At least the proms showed up nicely and made the session more interesting ;)

Nice disk Brian! I think the proms are going to be main subjects in the years coming now...

Good images, Brian. A quiet disk, but thankfully some nice proms.

Hi Derek...

Thanks for your feedback!!!

The brighter proms looked good visually to me as well, but the camera pulled even more up with longer exposures than what the eye could catch. Hope to get some more clear days in the coming weeks, but have meetings and training sessions a few days each week in February so with my luck they will be the clear ones :?
