February 1st Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Hi everyone...

February 1st offered me a slightly better session...at least I didn't get clouded out after 10 minutes like the previous couple of days I managed to start clear.

The first views through the LS80T showed some proms, filaments and a rare active region (it was even numbered) ;) I switched over to the iStar 150mm scope with the solar wedge and was not able to detect any hint of the AR that showed so nicely in Ha.

The images below were taken through the LS80T/B1200Ha with a LS75FHa front mount etalon as a double stack. These are composites made from separate disk and limb exposures. The first has a positive disk and negative limb, which enhances the proms:

The second flips the palette to enhance the disk features :

Since the WL was pretty bare I installed the Lunt CaK B1800 wedge on the iStar scope and grabbed a couple of images to assemble into the 2 frame mosaic below:

The final image that I captured before the clouds started to drift in was a close-up of AR2697 with the CaK filter:

I am hoping that AR2699 hangs on for a few more days until the sky clears ;)

Excellent details. I really like the CaK equatorials.

A great set Brian. Glad the sun came out for you. I'm hoping for a few breaks hopefully on sunday.
