Quick test repaired Quark
Quark came back from the US 2 weeks ago.
Cold an cloudy before noon, but suddenly around 12:30 clouds started to break. Still to cold (below 5°C) for the Quark, but decided to do a quick test anyway. Got it on temperature so the heater worked ok. Visually there was a lot of contrast in the image. (Had not seen that for long time).
So grabbed the laptop and the ASI-120 for a quick run, and shot 2 ser files + flat before clouds took over again. Not the best seeing for imaging, and no time to wait for good seeing. Sun 23° up in the sky.
The image is not really sharp, and too heavy processed, but the Quark looks promissing again ...

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
The seeing not great but still a valid image, Paul.
The nice part is that you are imaging again....

Thanks Franco and Alexandra.
Well, weather forecast for the coming days not good. We did not have many "good" days in December and January, a weather change would be really welcome.

Looks nice! Congratulates with a mended Quark.
BTW Does this image represents a full Quark FOV? Have you applied a flat field to this image?

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
Hi Valery,
this was with the ASI 120MM but binned 2x to get bigger pixel size and not oversampling at f/25. (7.5 instead of 3.75) Noth resized in post processing but the crop in AS!3 made it a little bit smaller). Conditions were very bad and I had a lot of problems focusing when viewing on the laptop screen. A flat was applied (otherwhise there would have been a big dust donut)
While imaging conditions als deteriorated because of hazy clouds coming in.
Next test will be with a new 120mm/f8.3 (if the Sun ever comes back)
Regards,
Paul

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
Valery,
i now stacked a version Without flat and without the crop option in AS!3. So this is the full view on the ASI-120MM sensor.
Little bit of L&R an stretch in IMPPG and correct orientation. So this shows some darkening towards the left (but that is also direction of the limb)
And of course a big dust donut.
But flats can take care of this

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
And here is an image taken today with the 120mm f/8.3 refractor (with Quark at f/35)
Still not really sharp but that is mainly due to:
- seeing conditions
- very bad focuser which I need to replace with something decent (wit 4200 mm focal lengt a good focuser is a must)
ASI 120 MM-S 2x binned against too much oversampling. Still some work ahead ...
regards,
Paul

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
Yes, good addition, the new quark seems to be a winner.

Re: Quick test repaired Quark
Thanks Franco & Mark.
Still some work to do now on this refractor to get it fixed to the mount in good balance and a decent focuser without breaking the bank. But unfortunatelly "on a budget" and "astronomy" seem to be mutually exclusive. (and I should need to get a camera with an IMX174 sensor for that combination as well. €€€€..)

Paul
