Activity on the absolutely bald sun through a 280mm aperture.

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

Here is an image which I took last fall October 11.
It shows what can be seen on the absolutely bald sun if you look through a large aperture
telescope with narrow enough filter.
The telescope used is Celestron 11 280mm sperture equipped with a full aperture DERF filter
and a very simple etalon - Quark Chromosphere. The image was taken at a slight blue wing shift.

You can see here about a dozen of mini-flares (at least very hot spots) and a few small dark
filaments (small prominences projected at the disk) and numerous spiculaes far from the limb.
All these mini-ative objects are very short living and change very quickly. Very interesting
objects for time lapse imaging.

So, with a telecopes of appropriate size one can hunt for solar active events even during dead
season of the solar activity.

It's very good Valery! I totally agree with you, look close enough and there is always something to see.

Hi Valery...

You caught a lot of small details, and proved that even when quiet there are features to tempt us.

Well done :bow

Nice image, Valery. I'm looking forward to giving my large aperture kit a good run this spring.
