Tried the CORONADO SM90II after being serviced twice and the contrast is still low. I guess I am going to use it in a double stack configuration...

It's even which means it's not needing much tilt. I just think it has a wide bandpass. Have you tried it with the newer 90ii you own?

Thanks for this Pedro. Not very impressive in relation to the price and promotion for the product.Eric gets great results from his older version it’s a pity with the consistency of these products.

Re: Today's SUN (20180325) | SM90II images
Thanks Derek and Mark
These images were obtained with a SM90II that was serviced twice (Mexico factory and Beloptik)
Maybe I will try with a SM60 Pre-Meade (double-stack)
Pre-Meade etalons are MUCH better. Unfortunately I sold mine a few years ago

Re: Today's SUN (20180325) | SM90II images
Hi Pedro,
¿ do you have a H-alpha accessory store ? Just joking.
One question: I see you have a BF 30. How many years and did they ever rust ?
I have 3 of them and already got 2 replacements in less then 10 years and now the new ones are starting to rust again and I have them in a very dry climate. Could that be a problem ?
Saludos

Re: Today's SUN (20180325) | SM90II images
Hi Rainer
I use my BF30 all the time (TV101 + SM60 and LUNT60)
It has never rusted. I bought second hand a couple of years ago
The LUNT B3400 I also have had a bad case of rust (ITF filter). I was able to deal with it by soaking the filter in Baader cleaning fluid (literally)
My climate is not dry so I could not tell if this is a problem

That 90 might work well on the front of the 152 I think Pedro

Still some lovely images Pedro, the Sun is a bit quiet for comparing contrast but yes, it doesn't look as good as the others

Re: Today's SUN (20180325) | SM90II images
Pedro:
Nice session and presentation.
Yes, your SM90II need a DS.
My best Coronado filters are the very old stacked 40mm picked by Bill Dean and David Lunt himself, these were made in the Isle of Man.
Have never decontacted or rusted.
The Solarmax 90-DS works nice, but had to change it several times until Bill D and Eric B, helped me match a set.
Best regards and fuerte abrazo,
Eric.

Re: Today's SUN (20180325) | SM90II images
Thanks Eric & Alexandra
I'm already building an adaptor to test it together with the LUNT152. Maybe it will be a nice option (Mark's suggestion)
best regards
fuerte abrazo
