Today's NEW SUNSPOT (12706??), Proms, HA & CA | April 19th 2018

Post by MalVeauX »

Hey all,

Had a clear morning, clouds rolled in fast, but managed to get some data. New sunspot on the East limb of the disc. I'm hoping they will name it 12706 as that seems to be next in sequence, haven't seen official naming yet so I went ahead with it (crosses fingers). Had decent seeing, was able to get good limb spicules. Some nice filaments out there. The new spot is bigger than the previous, looks great, has lots of interesting faculae around it, plenty of activity, maybe we will see a tiny flare? I started getting some 393nm data, but clouds shut me down. Will try again in the morning to get some comparison light in 540nm and 393nm since we'll have this new spot for a few days hopefully. Some nice proms still lining the limb.

Very good captures Marty. You must have excelent seeing conditions.
Tried the same area today but no decent results. Seeing was steady, but transparancy was very bad.

Rgrds,

Paul
