SunSpot AR2706 in High Res, Ha & Ca | April 20th 2018

Post by MalVeauX »

Hey all,

Not a lot of good proms on the limbs, but AR2706 is fantastic and big enough to really pull in some activity detail in high resolution. The clouds were sweeping in fast, and my seeing is best between 9am~10am, so I was imaging at 9am the moment the sun cleared my tree line from my observatory. Imaged in HA & CA to get some comparison on this spot as it rounds the limb. I really like limb-features because they appear more 3D like, compared to being front and center on the disc's surface. Lovely spot so far. It's umbra seems to be approximately Earth size, so it's a decent spot considering the minimum.

Good images, Marty. There's lots of complexity in that active region. Maybe a chance of flares if it continues to develop.
