Sunday Sun 27th May

Post by Carbon60 »

The day started with little prospect for solar scoping, but the weather reports promised an improving weather picture for the afternoon and lo and behold it turned out wonderfully sunny.... at least for a while before the rain returned. Mid chores I dropped everything, set up the 150/Lunt35 and captured a few images of quite a dramatic active region AR2712 (or AR12712 in old money). My grab and go CaK and Ha scopes also made an appearance for FD images in both lights.

All images captured on a Basler acA1920-155um camera.

First up, the blue end with a Lunt B600 CaK module on a 72mm f6 refractor fitted with a 2.5X Powermate. Two pane mosaics in monochrome and colour. The active regions are plain to see with their bright plage.

Then over to the red end of the spectrum with my DS Lunt 60, 2.5x Powermate and four pane FD mosaics in monochrome and colour.

And finally the DS 150/Lunt35 on AR2712, which is a beautiful and very large flower feature, captured here with a 2.5x Powermate (two pane mosaic) and 5x Powermate respectively. The conditions were just about suitable for the higher magnification images, but in reality probably just beyond the limitations of the scope and seeing.

Then it was back to the chores....... :(

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

Amazingly good, Stu. The first close-up of 2712 shows great amount of detail. Well done !

A really good set of images Stu! I'm moored up in Stourport basin at the moment ready to head off down the river to Tewksbury.

Many thanks everyone. Much appreciated. I'm very pleased with the performance of this Lunt 35 mod.

Enjoy your time on the water, Mark :)
