AR12712 in CaK and H-a with 280mm scope at excellent seeing.

Morning May 31 2018 was a totally clear, very transparent (a very deep blue sky) with a stable light wind (4-5m per sec).
The seeing was good to excellent even at 393nm wave length. I managed to take some high resolution images.

Here is the AR12712 in two bands - Ca-K and H-a. Telescope used is my trusty 280mm C11, CaK filter is a PST CaK filter 1 + 4x barlow.
H-a is a mica based etalon with about 0,2A bandwidth (my estimation in comparision with etalons with known bandwidth) at about F/25.

Thanks for looking and your comments are welcome.

Answering what you asked me on the other post, hope that soon I will be able to use the full size Aries ERF, with the 10" F/20 TEC Maksutov and also with a very good corrected 12" F/10 Meade SCT.
I have taken apart the Mak to clean the optics and to recollimate the system and I am also working on my very old AP 1200 GoTo mount (relubricating the gears and readjusting them).
Also will have to check if the SAFIX would improve the performance of these 2 optical systems, specially in CaK.
Best regards,
Eric.

Eric,

You don't need to use SAFIX with 10" Mak. This Mak is very well corrected for CaK.

I'm always impressed with your pictures Valery, I wish I had your seeing conditions instead of the grotty ones I get on a regular basis.

Mark,

This is a deep misconception that I have such a beautiful seeing. My current conditions of observing are truly terrible. And only in the morning (and far not everay day) with great patience and attention I can catch only a few minutes of a seeing improvement. Each movie which is worth of processing consists only a few seconds of better than average seeing. And I doing all my best to extract from them all the information blurred by atmosphere. Again, the secret is not an excellent seeing. The secret is in the patience to catch these short moments, best possible (affordable) equipment, optimized setup and meticulous processing. Literally every one, if he will pay the same amount of attention, will apply the same amount of efforts, will spend the same time and money, will reach the same or better results.

I wish all will have the same amount of time as I do have for solar imaging. My advantage is only in this.

When i've got the time I will sit for hours on end watching the computer screen for these magic moments of seeing, but they never come here in my part of the UK...

Is your location so much different from that where Alexandra lives? She was able to catch fantastic images in white light and this is not that easier than in H-a. Too bad her C11 is not armed fro H-a imaging. I'd expect excellent results in H-a from her.
With 8" aperture this should be easier. As I understand, working days you leave the house in the time when the seeing should be the best possible (usually). May be this is your main problem with high res imaging in H-a with your HaT.
But if you are correct in your thoughts, then may be a 6" refractor with a front mounted DERF is your best choice?

Valery, I have never been to Mark's location but I guess being in a city the seeing could be worse than mine. I live on the top of a ridge above a river and was looking out over fields so my seeing was always very good. However the bulldozers have moved in in the last few weeks and soon I will be viewing over roof tops so I have no idea what this will do with my seeing. I am not quite sure how high these houses will be as they will be 3 story and not the usual two (very bad luck). But I hope over this coming winter to save some money to get Halpha working on the C11, I have been very encouraged about the WL experiments.

Tee hee hee! Looking east i'm looking over about 30km of comtinuous city, buildings and town, to the south I only have a mere 15km of urban sprawl i'm viewing over, west is best with only several km of urban sprawl. Mine and Alexandras locations are quite opposite in their nature. I hope the new development doesn't affect things too much for you Alexandra. I am considering a scope smaller than the HaT, there's not really many times i've been able to successfully use the aperture it brings - something in the 125-150 range is what i'm thinking about.
