Prominences and spiculaes. High Res. Alter to Quark etalon.

Post by Valery »

Hi here,

These images of prominences and spiculaes are from June 11 and 19 early morning.

C11 280mm F/10 telescope equipped with the ARIES 295mm two bands DERF filter of the latest version. Alternative to Quark etalon (eyepiece like form factor). Total cost $1450. With uncomparable unifomity! Worked at F/45.

Seeing was a bit better than average morning seeing.

Thanks for looking and your comments are welcome.

Hi, Valery

I always look forward to your inspirational work. These images are exceptional.
I know there may be a reason why you are not giving details about the "alternative to Quark" but I'm sure many people would like to know what this device is even if it is not generally available.

So are you simply using the Ha passband of the Aries D-ERF to produce these?

Bruce,

I do use the following train: ARIES full size 295mm two bands DERF --> C11 telescope --> Alter(native) to Quark H-a ultranarrowband etalon --> 0,55x reducer --> Basler 1920-155 IMX174 camera.

So, an ultranarrowband etalon is required. This may be PST etalon, Quark, DayStar etalon, Solar Spectrum etalon etc etc.

Thanks Peter,

As for bar setting. This bar has been set up years ago by Jean Pierre Brahic with his 9" refractor and unique PST etalon.
Then Christian Viladrich continued his famous works with different DayStar and Solar Spectrum etalons coupled with different telescopes from 6" refractor to 11" Celestron. And, finally our friend Alessandro Bianconi starts to image spiculaes with his 8" or 9" refractor. So, I just continued their works. Hope that you too will be in this company very soon. Your last image of prominence with your new set-up makes me sure that your results will be at least of the same level.

I hope to get my C14 work at it's full potential somewhen in future. Then spiculaes will be seen in better detail.
