Today's Awesome Huge Proms! | Quark + 120mm | July 3rd 2018

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

I got a break this morning in the clouds and some pretty rotten seeing, but grabbed data anyways of the great proms that are on the limb today. Nothing really exciting on the surface, a handful of filaments here and there, but we're spotless. The proms however are putting on a great show, they're big and bright too. Grabbed the data with a 120mm F8 refractor and a Quark Chromosphere.

Nice proms

There are some absolutely gorgeous big proms out there today
One looks like a large, spreading shade tree.
Why oh why oh why won't my camera work???

Marty,

Excellent series of images. Always like your limb with priminences shots. Hope that soon you will increase you main caliber size and will shoot the sun with even greater resolution.

I will be looking to move into a C8 + DERF I think. Not yet, but soon. I've been thinking of the whole C8 + DERF + PST Etalon + 15mm BF setup for a while. Just trying to figure out how best to put it all together and still be able to also use a Calcium etalon with it too. Cost is the limit right now, but slowly saving towards it. Definitely want to have it before the maximum returns hah!

Very best,
