HR G band images taken on Aug 19 with the Newton 300mm
Dear All,
Here are some first images taken at the site of St Véran observatory (2930 m) with the 300 mm solar telescope. I use a 430 nm FWHM 1.9 nm filter.
A small pore with another small one on the left side of the image. Many filigrees are visible in the intergranular region :
A new very small group on the East limb :
Best regards
Christian

Awesome Christian! Love that G-band!
What do you think is the minimum aperture needed (assuming good seeing) to see the FE atoms in G band?
Very best,

Thanks !
Marty, my guess is that a 250 mm aperture is the minimum. But it would be worth to try it with a 200 mm aperture.

It's a beautiful place from which to image the Sun, Christian. Fabulous hi-res images. Lots of fine G-band detail.

Absolutely superb
Can you give some more information about the site? do you stay there, drive the car there, walk the telescope up there? what power supplies do you have?
