Crazy Big Proms Today! And Full Disc | 150mm HA | Oct 24th 2018

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

I woke up to clouds this morning, again, bummed out from the past two days of total cloud cover. Then randomly around 10am, I saw sun through my window so I darted outside to try and get some data through some sucker holes. Then it just cleared up. Seeing was quite decent, so I was able to push the image scale with the 6" scope. Really great big prominences on the limb, huge and wispy. A large filament is also hovering the limb. There's a tiny little active region in the center of the disc too, but not much activity.

Very nice images, Marty! The big proms were pretty faint and you did a great job capturing them.

Looks like the larger prom developed into a double extended column. Majic!!!
When I first looked at GONG I thought it must be a plate fault.

Thanks all, :bow

That's crazy how big it got and looks like it will lift off! Hope someone gets a catch on that one when it does, I'm working the next 2 days and it will surely be gone by then.

Very best,

It appears I was lucky!! Clouded out in the afternoon and it now looks like (according to GONG) it's disappeared.
One of those majic moments.
