Prominence & Surface - Nov 27, 2018

Post by FMEnage »

Hi.
It was cloudy , but a good sized sucker hole tempted me to image the sun today. Sure enough, as soon as i had my gear fully setup, the hole was no more. I waited for another hole and was rewarded for my patience. Seeing, though, was not great at around 2/5. Transparency was at ~2/5 with high clouds. The first photo is a combination of a (subtle) high gamma surface image and a prominence image. The second image is when I'm too lazy (to take a surface image). I'd appreciate if you would let me know which looks better. thanks

equipment used: ASI120MM-S / TMB92 f5.5 / Quark

cheers,
Mike

Wow! these are fantastic Mike, I like either version of the prominence, both have their plus points
Where abouts are you? nothing but torrential rain in the UK today.

The prom images are very good Mike, and each show the features slightly differently. They are close, but I prefer the pic with the chromosphere masked out as i find the bright disk competes with the prom too much.
